The Dutch Basketball League tipped-off their season with 3 Belgians on the courts
In the opening round of the Dutch Basketball League we saw 3 (out of 4) Belgians getting in on the action.
First up was Ordane Kanda Kanyinda as his team Feyenoord Rotterdam went on the road to visit Apollo Amsterdam and came away with the 53-74 victory. Kanda played a total of 28 minutes and recorded 5 points (2-6 FG’s), 3 rebounds, 5 assists & 2 steals.
Next up was the match-up between Aris Leeuwarden and newcomers in the DBL The Hague Royals. The Hague held on nicely in the opening half but Leeuwarden (with Belgian coach Ferried Naciri) then took over in the second half and eventually got the 81-63 victory.
Cedric Dedecker had a huge hand in the win as he finished with 18 points (6-11 FG’s) and dished out 4 assists coming off the bench. Rikkert De Maertelaere made his professional debut with Leeuwarden and played 9 minutes in which he grabbed 2 rebounds and dished out 1 assist.
For The Hague we also saw the first minutes of Alhassan Barrie who came off the bench and finished with 7 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists & 2 steals in 16 minutes.
